Can you print just one shirt? How our order minimums work
No, not one. Our minimum is 24 pieces for screen printing and 12 pieces for embroidery. The 24 counts per design, so you can mix styles: 12 tees and 12 long sleeves with the same design make 24.
This question came in through the chat on our website. It is one of the first things people ask, so here is the full answer.
Why is there a minimum at all?
Most of the work on a printed or embroidered order happens before the first shirt is decorated.
Screen printing: every color in your design gets its own screen. We output your art to film, burn it onto a screen, and set the screens on the press. That setup is the same whether we print two shirts or two hundred, so it only makes sense spread across a real run.
Embroidery: your logo is digitized one time, which means it is turned into a stitch file the embroidery machine follows. After that, each piece is stitched from the same file.
The two minimums, side by side
| Screen printing | Embroidery | |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 24 pieces | 12 pieces |
| How it counts | Per design. Different styles with the same design count together. | Hats, polos and other embroidered pieces count together. |
| One-time setup | A screen for each color in the design | Your logo is digitized once |
| Usually used for | Tees, long sleeves, sweatshirts, hoodies | Polos, caps, jackets, quarter-zips |
How do I reach 24 without ordering shirts nobody needs?
- Mix styles with the same design. Tees for the warm days, long sleeves or hoodies for the cold ones. Twelve of one and twelve of the other is an order.
- Mix sizes. Everyone in the group picks the size they actually wear.
- Count everyone. Coaches, volunteers, front-desk staff and a few spares for people who join later are easy to forget.
- Look at embroidery. If your logo works as a small left-chest mark or on a cap, embroidery starts at 12 pieces, and caps and polos count toward the same 12.
We do not have DTF or DTG printers, which are the methods most shops use for one-off shirts. If you need one or two pieces, a shop with that equipment is the better fit, and we would rather tell you that up front. When your group gets to 24, or 12 for embroidery, we would love to help.
What happens after I order?
